Our cupping sessions consist of gentle cupping techniques that apply suction to the skin and underlying soft tissues. We do not use fire cupping and we do not use aggressive cupping that causes bleeding into the cups.
These cupping techniques are suitable for professional or recreational athletes to recover after exercise or a big event such as a marathon, half marathon or triathlon.
These cupping techniques are extensively used in professional sport in recovery sessions along with acupuncture, cold water immersion and yoga.
Cupping is also suitable for office workers who suffer from a stiff neck, back and shoulders from spending long hours at a desk. Your cupping session will be delivered by a Chartered Physiotherapist or Massage Therapist qualified in Cupping Therapy Massage.
We offer a Deluxe Cupping 1 hour cupping and deep tissue massage as well as an Express 30 minute Cupping or sliding cupping session.
You should not have cupping if you suffer:
In a cupping session we use static cupping where cups are applied to the skin to draw up and create suction of the skin and underlying soft tissues in to the cup.
This type of cupping stimulates blood into the treated area and can loosen adhesion in the fascia surrounding the muscle. The technique does causes some very mild discomfort and can lead to visible bruises that last for 3 to 5 days.
This type of cupping is very useful when applied the neck, back and shoulders if you suffer from posture related pain from working long hours at a desk and the effects are enhanced when combining a cupping session with an Express Relaxing Swedish or Deep Tissue Sports Massage and yoga for strengthening. It’s also great to treat scar tissue and muscle trigger points.
We can also perform sliding cupping. This is where massage oil is applied to the skin prior to the cup being posited. The cup is then slid along the skin. This type of cupping stimulates suction to the muscles and fascia, creating heat and friction that loosens up adhesions at the soft tissues interfaces and deactivates tension points in the muscles and drawing up blood into the soft tissues.
This type of cupping also promotes blood flow to the areas worked on bringing in fresh oxygen and nutrients and stimulates lymph flow from the areas worked on to remove waste products. Cupping does leave visible bruises however this is less visible with sliding cupping.
Sliding cupping is particularly useful on the IT band if you suffer from running related knee pain or over the neck and shoulders if you suffer from posture related pain.
Natasha Bondu2025-01-28 Excellent service, everyone is very nice and helpful! Shreya has been great in particular! Tomasz Milenda2025-01-20 I recently visited Wandsworth Physiotherapy & Osteopathy and was thoroughly impressed with the professional and attentive service. The team there, particularly my therapist, was knowledgeable and genuinely interested in understanding my specific needs to tailor their treatment effectively. Their approach not only addressed my immediate concerns but also equipped me with valuable insights and exercises to help prevent future issues. The atmosphere was welcoming and calming, which made each session something to look forward to. I highly recommend their services to anyone seeking top-notch physiotherapy or osteopathy care in the area. Georgia Dent2025-01-17 I have only had absolutely fantastic experiences at Wordsworth physiotherapy. Whenever I have gone in with an injury, they have genuinely treated it and made it better. On Wednesday I went in to see the fantastic Kirsty after injuring both my knees running, after 30 minutes with her and the treatment she did I went home and by Friday I was back in the gym completely better, she was genuinely magical. I won’t go and see any other physiotherapist from now on, they are incredible! Curtis Bell2025-01-17 Thank you Shreya! Anjlee Patel2025-01-08 I had a great experience with Shreya, following persistent neck pain/soreness. She was attentive and thorough in her investigation and I saw improvements after the first session. Very friendly reception staff and overall positive experience. Maja Jovicevic2025-01-07 Khush listened to my problems and helped. She was gentle but able to apply pressure. I had very bad lower back pain due to hereditary degeneration of my lower disks but after 1 session I was able to walk without tears. Khush was also willing to try out holistic methods such as cupping and lastly gave me a detailed workout/core strengthening plan which is actually challenging!Google rating score: 4.9 of 5, based on 354 reviewsVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
