Relaxing Swedish Massage

Our Relaxing Swedish Massage sessions consist of traditional more gentle massage techniques. This is suitable for professional or recreational athletes as a recovery massage after exercise or a big event such as a marathon, half marathon or triathlon. These massage techniques are extensively used in professional sport in recovery sessions along with acupuncture, cold water immersion and yoga.

A gentle Swedish massage is also suitable for office workers who suffer from a stiff neck, back and shoulders from spending long hours at a desk, but perhaps won’t tolerate the firm pressure of one of our Express or Deluxe Sports Massages. Your relaxing massage will be delivered by a Chartered Physiotherapist or Registered Osteopath.

This type of gentle and relaxing massage stimulates the muscles and fascia, creating heat and friction that loosens up adhesions at the soft tissues interfaces and deactivates tension points in the muscles.

What is Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage also promotes blood flow to the massaged areas bringing in fresh oxygen and nutrients and stimulates lymph flow from the massaged areas to remove waste products.

A Swedish massage also stimulates the brain to produce endorphins and serotonin, chemicals that produce a greater sense of wellbeing and relaxation. Serotonin production also promotes deep restorative sleep. It’s quite possible you will feel very sedated after this massage and will probably have a very sound night sleep.

It’s important to drink lots of water after a Relaxing Swedish Massage as one of the effects is increased lymph and blood flow to and from the area massaged. This can release toxins and chemicals from body tissues and increase detoxification. Drinking water after your massage will help this process.

Benefits of Swedish Massage

The Deluxe Relaxing Swedish Massage is 1 hour and perfect for those who want to indulge themselves in a whole body treatment, promote a deep and relaxed state and promote quality and restorative sleep. This massage will treat the neck, upper back and shoulders, the rotator cuff, the mid and lower back, the glutes, hamstring, quads and calves with calming restorative massage therapy.

The Express, Deluxe and Super Deluxe massages are delivered by a Chartered Physiotherapist or Registered Osteopath.

During a Relaxing Swedish Massage session no assessment or diagnosis of an injury will be made. If you have an injury that requires assessment and diagnosis you need to book a physiotherapy or osteopathy appointment.

Our most popular Relaxing Swedish Massage is the 30 minutes Express massage. This is perfect for tired stressed mums and office workers who develop pain and tension in the neck, back and shoulders. To prevent stress and injuries from occurring regularly we recommend monthly maintenance Express Relaxing Swedish Massage sessions.

The Super Deluxe Relaxing Swedish Massage is 90 minutes and perfect for those who want extra attention on certain areas and may also include head and foot massage, as well as the neck, upper back and shoulders, the rotator cuff, the mid and lower back, the glutes, hamstring, quads and calves.
