In the news recently is a workforce review published on 17th May suggesting extending the roles of physiotherapists and other non-medical professionals particularly in primary care.
The document draws on research showing that 70% of a GP’s workload could be taken on by allied health care professionals such as physiotherapists. In fact as much as 30% of what people present to their GP with is musculoskeletal pain.
In simple terms this means if you have sustained a musculoskeletal injury that you should self refer to a physiotherapist instead of visiting your GP.
Physiotherapists are more adequately skilled to quickly and effectively deal with musculoskeletal injuries saving you time and getting you back to fitness more readily.
We are pleased to announce that Alyshea Houng-Lee has joined the team at Wandsworth Physiotherapy. Alyshea has spent the last couple years travelling around Europe working on the golf and tennis circuit so she has a very good understanding of sports injuries.
She also has an interest in Women’s health helping pregnant and new mums with low back pain, pelvic pain and post pregnancy pelvic floor and abdominal retraining. She works two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday 8am-12noon.
So if you find yourself waking up with a musculoskeletal injury, don’t wait 3 weeks to see your GP, book and appointment to see Steve or Alyshea at Wandsworth Physiotherapy. We will quickly and effectively deal with your issue and get you back on track as quickly as we can.
